YAY ~ Smile With Centro

I received an email today advising me that one of the (5) photos I submitted to the ‘Smile With Centro’ photographic competion has been accepted as one of 20 finalists at my local shopping centre ~ Karingal Hub.
I won’t know until Monday (when I can go and see for myself) which photo they chose, but I don’t really care…what a buzz !
I’m in the running to win a Sony Cyber-shot camera and Picture Station Photo Printer valued at $978 if I am chosen as Best Local Photo, OR, $10,000 cash if selected as the National Winner. I also get to keep the large, mounted photo that is on display. Of course, a win would be lovely, but I am so chuffed just to have been chosen

Maybe, if not already, you can enter some photos at the Nook Exhibition, which was to be this tuesday, but now postponed untill serious publicity takes place in the local Leader Newspapers

I don’t actually know what the picture is of that they have selected, though it is most certainly one of my kids. I wouldn’t class any of my photos as being any good - they are simply ‘happy snaps’ that I have taken while learning to use my snazzy new Canon 400D.
I’ve not entered anything into the exhibition because I doubt I’ll be able to make it to see everyone else’s fabulous work
I also don’t really think anything I have done is necessarily worthy of display.
My first success ?? Yes, this is the first time I have been accepted into a photo competition, but I win prizes in other competitions a couple of times a month usually.

That is the very reason I hesitated to submit the photo. The only reason that I did was that everyone who had seen the photo commented that it was great and that they would have assumed it to be juice or jam on his face (it is, in fact, cherry juice from eating his first cherry).
From over 35,000 entries it became one of the 1,180 finalists, so I guess the judges were going with juice or jam rather than blood too !! :p
