Unlawful Dismissal - We’ve reached a settlement agreement !!

Well, it seems that being right and being persistant has paid off ! My ex employer has agreed to a settlement and we do not need to go to the conciliation meeting next Wednesday.
In addition to my Long Service Leave, he has agreed to pay me 5 weeks remuneration for lost wages. He also has to give me a separation certificate, and he has to sign a reference that I am to write for myself.
I am glad that it is all over as I was really feeling very stressed and emotionally drained by the whole thing. I am sad that my employment has ended this way ~ it really needn’t have gotten to this. I am proud of myself though for standing up for my rights.

WHOOA!!! Congratulations pinkcow, I know it has been stressful but this has been quite quick (comparatively speaking). Your boss’ bluff was easy to see through and your belief in yourself and justice has come to pay deserved dividends. Now would be a good time to treat yourself (and family) to a great dinner or weekend away to recover from the stress of the past couple months or so, there’s plenty of work out there and the competitive nature of employment nowadays means that it’s only the BAD employers that wine about the “skills crisis” WELL DONE and good luck

I’m glad you have reached an agreement you are happy with, I’m afraid I would not have settled but I have more experience and knowledge of IR than you so can understand your reasoning to settle. How about naming the company now???????
Yes grumpyoldman, I could have gotten more, but I wasn’t fighting for money. I wanted him to know that what he had done was wrong and that he can’t just walk over people. I got my justice, my LSL and a few $$ to boot, I am happy with that.
I still wont name the company though - I haven’t got my money yet LOL
